 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

 

Below are some of the most common questions I encounter from clients. If you can’t find the answer to your question here, don’t hesitate to contact me.

PRICING

My cakes and desserts are made to fit each customer’s needs.  The cost is therefore determined by the size (servings), design, and décor.  Please inquire for small treat and favor prices.  Smash cakes are sold in addition to a main cake and start at $50.  My cakes start at $9.00-$11.00 per serving depending on the occasion with the final price determined by the design and décor.  Please reach out to me for a specific quote as every cake and dessert is different.  

MINIMUMS

Wedding cakes and desserts:  Minimum of $1000 total.  

Celebration cakes and desserts:  Minimum of $400 per cake (with the exception of smash cakes).

Small desserts and treats only orders: At the moment, I’m only offering small desserts, cookies, and favors with a cake order.

These numbers may increase depending on the season and demand.

WEDDING CAKE TASTING CONSULTATIONS

I offer tastings by appointment. During our consultation, you will taste 3 flavors of your choice from my menu. We’ll discuss your cake design and create a sketch of your cake.  Please bring pictures, fabric swatches and any other inspirations that will help us create the perfect cake for your event.  There is a non-refundable $80 fee for my in-person tasting consultations, which will be credited towards your deposit for orders of $1000+.  

PLACING AN ORDER

Please fill out and submit the contact form located on my contact page. Or you can send me an email at missyleecakes@gmail.com. Please include the date of your event, how many servings or size of cake needed and any pictures or ideas you have so far.  I respond to inquiries as quickly as possible but please allow up to 72 hours for a reply. 

WHEN TO PLACE YOUR ORDER

I work alone (only me!) so typically I only take a few orders a month. At times I book out a few months in advance so I would recommend submitting a request as soon as possible. Typically, I ask for all non-wedding inquires to be submitted at least 1 month before the event date. For wedding inquires please submit 6-9+ months in advance. If you would like to place an order after these advised timelines feel free to contact me to see if I have availability as I would love to help you if I can. I’m not able to guarantee availability until an order has been secured with a deposit or payment. 

PAYMENT

For weddings I ask for a 50% non-refundable deposit at the time you place your order to secure your date. The remaining balance is due 1 month prior to your event date.  For all other events, I ask for a full payment to hold the date or a $400 deposit (my cake minimum). For orders placed less than 1 month before the event date the full balance is due at the time you place your order.  I’m not able to guarantee availability until an order has been secured with a deposit or payment. I accept checks, cash, Venmo or PayPal. PayPal transactions are subject to a card processing fee of 2.99% + $0.30.

KITCHEN CAKES

I offer kitchen cakes in addition to a cake order if you need additional servings of cake.  A kitchen cake is built the same way as your cake — 4 layers of cake, 3 layers of buttercream and filling, approximately 5" tall — but undecorated and not displayed for guests to see. This way, all your guests receive the same beautiful slices of cake. Kitchen cakes are $6/serving.

FRESH FLORALS

I am more than happy to provide florals at an additional cost, but I recommend ordering them from your florist so they match your event.  I will prepare, wrap and decorate your cake with them onsite at the time of delivery. 

PICK UP/DELIVERY AND SET UP

Orders may be picked up from my location, but I am not responsible for any damage that may occur once the cake or desserts have been picked up.  My delivery fee depends on the distance from my location to the venue or drop off location.  My fee starts at $40 and increases depending on the distance.  My set up fee starts at $30 and increases depending on the amount of desserts requiring set up.  Typically cake only orders will not be charged a set-up fee.  Please inquire for a specific estimate.

CAKE STAND/DISH RENTAL

I have several cake stands and platters available to rent with a fully refundable security deposit.  Once the item(s) are returned within 5 days, undamaged, to one of the two locations listed on my cake stand agreement, the security deposit will be returned within 24 hours.  If the item(s) are not returned, I will use the security deposit to order a replacement.  Security deposits cover the entire amount of the item(s) and range from $40-$220.  Rental fees start at $30 and may increase depending on the item.  Missy Lee Cakes is not responsible for picking up stands or dishes after the event.

DROP-INS

I’m not open to the public, but please contact me and we can set up an appointment. 

VEGAN OR GLUTEN-FREE

At this time, I do not offer vegan or gluten free cakes.

ALLERGIES

My desserts and cakes may contain or come into contact with wheat, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, and milk.  For more information, please ask me.
